We would have cut the cord earlier, but without cable our internet went way up and we may as well have had cable too.

The irony.

She ended up getting a 2016 Nissan Rogue, but it did not have an infotainment system. It is a fairly simple system with Bluetooth connectivity for audio. I wish more companies would give us the ability to modify the systems, especially after they abandon them (my 2015 Toyota Tacoma’s last map update is from about 6 months before my truck was built.)
My mom has a ‘16 Subaru and the infotainment has been such a hassle. I had to constantly keep repairing her Bluetooth. It was so bad that my daughter, who has wanted a Subaru for years decided against one simply because of the infotainment.
I always took it as she needed neither protection nor was she a fair maiden.

nocturne213@lemm.eeto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•A new trend in tipping emergesEnglish4·2 years agoIt started much earlier than that and has roots in racism. https://time.com/5404475/history-tipping-american-restaurants-civil-war/
After the Constitution was amended in the wake of the Civil War, slavery was ended as an institution but those who were freed from bondage were still limited in their choices. Many who did not end up sharecropping worked in menial positions, such as servants, waiters, barbers and railroad porters. These were pretty much the only occupations available to them. For restaurant workers and railroad porters, there was a catch: many employers would not actually pay these workers, under the condition that guests would offer a small tip instead.
I have a 2015 Tacoma, which I love. But I would much rather an ‘84 pickup.
I used to work for a family from India, I introduced them to outsourced, they absolutely loved it. We were all upset it was canceled too.
